But Lot’s wife looked back as she was following behind him, and she turned into a pillar of salt. Gen 19:26 NLT
Letting go of what you have grown accustomed to isn’t easy. Moving forward and leaving things behind; letting go of relationships, whether good or bad, can be heartbreaking. That’s exactly what we see in Genesis 19, the angels of the Lord warned Lot and his family of the sudden urgency to flee from the destruction about to take place. During this crucial journey of escape, Lot and his family were warned not to look back. Unfortunately, Lot’s wife disobeyed; she looked back and became a pillar of salt. Instead of moving forward she became stagnant.
Just like Lot’s wife, you might be struggling with letting go of something God is calling you out of. You know God is offering you something new, but you’re reluctant to let go of the old. Isaiah 43:18 says, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.” Transition can be hard to accept and embrace, but they are the only means of entering into God’s safety zone for our lives.
Today, whatever, wherever, whomever, God is asking you to depart from; be assured that He has something better in mind for you. As you let go, don’t look back! Move onward, as God directs, and watch Him bless your obedience. God takes us out of one thing in order to take us into another. The later is always better than the former. Trust God today and move forward, refuse to turn back.
I Declare: Today I declare, that I am not going back, I’m moving ahead. My past is over, all things are made new, I am moving forward.
Ignite Thought: Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance, you must keep moving.
