Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. 2 Thessalonians 3:16
God wants us to have, “peace at all times and in every way” because he is a God of peace. He gives peace in times and places where you expect to find peace. Imagine Moses facing the Red Sea, that won’t be a good time or place to expect peace. Yet we read in Exodus 14:14 In the Amplified Bible, “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest.”
When we hold our peace and remain at rest in difficult circumstances we make God’s name glorious. The peace we are looking for is not a product of peace keeping, it is the working of God. In Isaiah the Bible says, “… they were given rest by the Spirit of the Lord. This is how you guided your people to make for yourself a glorious name” (Isaiah 63:14). We make God’s name glorious by resting in him, then it’s obvious the peace we are experiencing isn’t coming from our circumstances but from God.
When we do the opposite, become agitated and disturbed by circumstances, we allow the devil to succeed. Jesus said in John 14:27AMP, “Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.” The real peace that God gives us is a supernatural peace, a peace that can endure through any circumstance, for any length of time. It’s a challenge, but achievable, we can hold onto our peace and remain at rest regardless of the prevailing situations around us.
I Declare: Today I declare, that the Lord Jesus Christ himself who loves me, will comfort and strengthen my heart in every good deed and word. He will give me peace continually and in every circumstance. I have peace with God, peace of God and peace from God!
