“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23 (ESV)
An anxious and insecure heart demands relief and demands it now! We sometimes run helter skelter looking for who or what will save us, but nothing but the promises of God will do. Religious works will not save us; approval from the world or friends will not secure us, and finding comfort in addiction or endless distraction will not stabilize us. In fact, dependence on anything other than Christ will crush us under a weight we were never meant to carry.
The good news, though, is tucked into our key verse: “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:23). When God calls us out of our comfort zone, He is faithful to do what He promises. It is wisdom to hold fast to the confession of our hope, trusting that the God who promised is faithful. He is too faithful to fail me, with him lying is an impossibility.
I have learned the hard way that men and their means over-promise and under-provide. For a moment, we may find respite, but people never permanently provide the stability we need. So, instead of grabbing onto men and sin, let us hold fast to our Savior. He will fulfill every promise made! He will provide without finding fault. Hold on to God!
I Declare: I am experiencing God’s faithfulness in every area of my life. I will not worry. I will not doubt. I will keep my trust in Him, knowing that He will not fail me. I will lay hold every promise God puts in my hands.
Ignite Thought: Dependence on anything or anyone other than Jesus, is a recipe for disappointment.
