lamp, oil lamp, nostalgia

be a burning and a shining light!

Spread the word!

John was the lamp that kept on burning and shining [to show you the way], and you were willing for a while to delight (sun) yourselves in his light. John 5:53 AMPC

BEFORE us the testimony of Jesus concerning John the Baptist, Jesus affirmed to us that John was not just a shining light; he was first a burning then a shining light. Meaning that his burning engineered his shining. There is a world of difference between shining while burning and just shining. For example, the sun is a burning and glowing sphere whereas the moon just shines but does not burn, it merely reflects the sun’s light. Those who burn within can give light on the outside. Anything that does not burn within is nothing but a reflection of another light, and it will soon die off.

If every Christian will learn to burn and shine, Satan will be out of business very soon. Become too hot for the devil to handle. As believers, our shining in life is traceable to our burning for God. Like Paul admonishes the saints in Rome, it is time we increase our fire and burn for God through our fellowship with the Holy Spirit, engaging in kingdom advancement ventures (Rom 12:11).

Being a bright light attracts. It attracts all kinds and has no capacity of sieving. Light does captivate, it is one of its characteristics. However, to keep being a beacon that shines clearly, you have to be a light that burns. There has to be a consistent fire burning on all your altars. The zeal of the lord’s house must consume you. You must be up and about your saviors’ business. because it is fire that generates light.

I Declare: I am a shining example of a genuinely passionate Christian, i am serving God with a fire that cannot be put out! Holy Spirit help me to maintain a red hot altar so that the light on my platform will shine forever brighter.

Ignite Thought: “Get on fire for God and men will come and see you burn.” ― John Wesley
