Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. Hebrews 10:35-36
In a generation that everything is instant, the concept of waiting seem alien and a hard bone to crack. the text before us encourages us This is a cool scripture… that we need to have confidence that God will do what he says he will. It is very possible for people that are not doing Gods will to seem to be a lot more happy and content than we are… especially when our promised blessings don’t come immediately. That can be really frustrating, because we often don’t have a lot of patience. We always want the rewards NOW or never.
The tough thing to remember is that this life is a test, and we have to pass it. We have to do God’s will and then not abandon it immediately if something else looks temporarily more fun. Patience is part of the package. Doing the right thing before God is not enough; we have to patiently wait for the right time. God is mindful of us always, and he is applauding when we do things that are hard for us. He wants to reward us for even the smallest efforts… but he also needs to give us things at the right time, and in the right way… and HE knows the timing best… we don’t.
So today, let’s do God’s will, trust Him and wait. He will give us the desires of our hearts, and bless us beyond imagining… just be patient and hold on for a little while longer.
I Declare: Today, I will do God’s will and patiently wait for Him to work out His promises in my life. I refuse to fix things my way; I refuse to give up on God. When the time is right, I will receive all that was promised.
Ignite Thought: Patience is not just the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while we wait.
