Still Mortal

Spread the word!

I know, God, that mere mortals
    can’t run their own lives,
That men and women
don’t have what it takes to take charge of life.

Jeremiah 10:23 The Message

The Bible encourages us to plan but also warns us about the limitation of our plans. The best of our planning process has limits. In fact, the writer of Proverbs provides us with a clear perspective in this regard, he said “we may make our plans, but God has the last word”16:1. In other words, we make the plans but God determine the final outcome. This now makes it dangerous for us to do our daily plans without considering his plans for us.

Our plans only become very successful when we align them with God and ask Him to bless them. Ultimately, we must trust Him to guide us to produce the outcome we desire. God is the singular author and finisher of history (and of our faith) and although we have freewill to make our own choices, which may result in self-imposed difficulties, nonetheless it is God who determines the course of mankind and God Who directs the steps of His children.

Child of God, It is God who has set in motion the plans and purposes for the nations of the world and it is He who will direct you and me to fulfill His ultimate plans and purposes, for our benefit and His glory. Today, remember that we can make our plans, but the LORD determines the outcome. Acknowledge Him in all you do and trust Him to direct your path.

My Declaration And Confession: Lord may I become increasingly willing to remain dependent upon You, for I desire that You guide my steps and lead me in the way I should go. Today I declare that You have wonderful plans for me, I will let You lead and determine the outcome of my life.

Ignite Thought: When God is in charge of our plans, He takes responsibility for the outcome.
