Did God Really Say?

Spread the word!

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’

Genesis 3:1 NIV

Literally the oldest trick in the book. “Did God really say?” continues to be a favorite tool of the enemy as he “prowls around, like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)The serpent looks so harmless until he successfully plants deceit in your heart. The provocative question he asked Eve “Did God really say you must not eat from the tree in the garden?” was the question that led Adam and Eve into temptation. When Adam and Eve gave heed to the seducing question of Satan, doubt was introduced into their hearts to the point they doubted God even when the devil was contradicting God. The serpent said they would not die but look like God, I thought they were already created in the image and likeness of God?

Like the serpent the devil still prowls around looking for people to devour through deception. If you are not careful he would sow a seed of doubt in your mind and move, before you will realize it you are lost, naked and ashamed, and hiding from the all-seeing eyes of God and banished from your destined garden.

It is not just enough to have an idea of what the Bible says, we must accurately understand it. It is in the absence of this accurate understanding that the enemy twists scriptures and takes us captive. Today, like David, store the word in your heart so that Satan and his devices would have no landing place. Next time the enemy asks “did God really say that He demands holiness in my relationships, finances, investments, work, thoughts and every other area of life”? Answer with a resounding YES, God did really say!

My declaration and confession: Today I soak my mind in the truth of God’s word. I accept that the law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right,  rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes!

Ignite Thought: To every did God really say of Satan, there should be an “it is written” in your heart and mouth.
