And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.
2 Corinthians 8:5
Consecration is when we deliberately determine to be interested in that which God is interested in. Simply put, consecration is higher and greater concentration on Jesus and His concerns. Consecration is when our life is wholly surrendered to a higher purpose; living exclusively to God’s glory.
A consecrated life is a life lived in response to the love and mercies of God. It is an invitation to surrender all in response to all Christ has done for us. We cannot understand fully the depth of what God has done for us through Christ and not be wholly surrendered to Him.
It is the consecration (sacrifice) of our life to God that determines the level of other sacrifice through us. Until God has us, we can’t readily make our time, talent and treasure available for His service. We must be willing to give ourselves totally to the Lord. But the motivation for this does not come from within ourselves-it comes from an understanding of who we are in Christ and what He has done for us. As believers therefore, the quality of our consecration would determine the quality of our elevation.
My declaration and confession: Lord i offer my life to you; all i am and all i have, i surrender it for your glory. Let my life be wholly available to you and for you!
