Beloved, now we are the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be; but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. 1 John 3:2 (KJ12)
Who are you and what defines you? That’s a question many people struggle to answer, even professing believers. Too often, people base their identities on what they do (from their jobs to their roles in relationships), defining themselves by these pursuits. But by doing so, they significantly limit their lives. The truth is that God intends for all people to find their identity in Christ. Other times, the enemy makes us exchange who we are with what we feel. For example you hear people say I am sick instead of I feel sick. You see there is a difference between I feel and I am. Never replace your position with your situation. Don’t make a permanent decision on a temporary situation. Learn from the automatic teller machine (ATM), you are only temporary unable to dispense cash, you are not poor. I feel sick, not I am sick. (Isaiah 33:24)
The finished work of Christ has placed us on a higher plane by purchasing for us a glorious inheritance that the enemy is trying to fight us from maximizing the benefits thereof; Satan doesn’t mind us singing Abraham’s blessings are mine as long as we don’t engage the obedience of Abraham in the here and now to enjoy the reality thereof. We are not ordinary people; we are supernatural beings having a natural experience.
As the children of God, we are a people of the Indwelling, indwelt by the Godhead – The Father, Son and Holy Spirit makes their home in us. We carry the Holy Trinity within us! Why should the Holy Spirit be less in us than He was in Christ, or the apostles or other servants of God? Why should He do less in us than He did in them? Eph 3:19 “And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God”. We are the carriers of divinity; we have exceeding and abundant possibilities of God at work in and through us. We look human and seem to be having a human experience but we are truly super human beings with super human experiences. We are the sons of God!
My declaration and confession: In Christ, I am a new creature: old things are passed away and all things have become new. I am redeemed and my body is housing divinity. My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly life by the power of God through faith!
