And afterward receive me to glory.
Psalm 73:24 (NKJV)
There is no better verse that sums up all of life in one verse, present and future like the above text. The psalmist is confident of the fact that while living on the face of the earth, he will enjoy the guidance and direction of God that will lead him to a path of honour and glory in his daily affairs. He was persuaded of the ever presence of God as the present help even in the times of trouble.
But the psalmist didn’t just end with life while on earth; he told us what will follow the earthly leadings and honour, he said God will receive him in glory. In other words after God has carefully guided us here on earth, He would usher us into the glories of heaven, for the believers in Christ, there is a lapse; it is life after life. Death is not an end but a door to another beginning.
This should give us the confident assurance to know that dead to is not the end of life; it is a transition into higher life. Dead to the believer is a gain, we can look at death in the eyes and ask like Paul, death where is your sting and grave where is your victory? Because we know that dead has been swallowed up in victory, we can boldly live with the consciousness that after God carefully guides us here, He will lead us into greater glory there.
My declaration and confession: Lord, today I receive your guidance as a means of launching me into a path of greater glory, help me to live faithfully here and now as I prepare for greater glory forever and ever and ever!
Ignite Thought: As believers we don’t transit from life to dead; we transit from life to higher life!
