Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. Acts 9:17, 18 (NIV)
One of the most interesting and life transforming stories we would ever read in the New Testament is before us today. Ananias shared the Lord’s message and Saul received the Holy Spirit in an instant, and the Bible said he could see again. The blindness he had experienced for three days disappeared at the acceptance of the Holy Spirit. Whenever the Spirit moves, light shines. But before this encounter Saul was sure he had not only a perfect vision but all the answers about God and life. Because he was an educated Pharisee and part of the religious elites, experts who believed they had a special place with God.
That is how so many people go through life, with the fatal assumption that they have all the answers. Some people think they have their lives all figured out, they believe they have a solid vision. Truth is none of us has it all together. Even the man that was called blameless in the Old Testament admitted he had limited vision and understanding in Job 36:26
We need to humble ourselves before the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to work in us, removing every scale from our eyes and empowering us to see again. We need our vision restored in every area of our lives that blindness is reigning, so that we can serve Him faithfully.
My declaration and confession: Today I declare that every scale of blindness is off my eyes, I confess I have my vision back. I can see clearly now.
Ignite Thought: Until the scales are taken off immediately, you can’t see clearly and completely what God has in store for you.
