Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
Philippians 3:13 (KJV)
One of the hardest things to do in life is letting go of what is familiar, but that is exactly what God has called us to. You see the Christian experience is an ever continuing journey, the final destination would be us arriving at the full image and the statue of Christ Jesus. But until then, we keep pressing on to the mark of our higher calling. Sometimes we get tempted to celebrate temporary finish lines we call testimonies, but it is good to know we have not arrived yet.
Many people love remembering and holding on to the past; while it is good to note that it is not everything in the past that was evil and terrible. It is better to know that no matter how good the past was, it is nothing compared to what lies ahead. So no matter the case about the past, good or bad, we are called today to forget it. We are not to be prisoners of our past but prisoners of hope, staring for what lies ahead of us in Christ Jesus. We are called to let go the past and pick up the future. What is ahead of us is not just a final destination in heaven, what God is calling us into is a quality of life that is present for us in everyday life and at all times.
My declaration and confession: “I am stepping out of the ugliness of the past into the beauty of my glorious future”
Ignite Thought: No matter how good the past was, it can never be better than the future God has for you.
